Think you’re not a martial artist? Think again.
You might not think of yourself as a martial artist – yet. But perhaps that’s simply because you’ve never discovered what martial arts training could bring out in you.
So many people have been inspired to get involved in martial arts by Bruce Lee or, more recently, shows such as Cobra Kai. There is something undeniably appealing about learning cool moves, developing new skills and discovering your inner martial artist.
At KB Fitness in London, we call it the KB high.
Everybody at KB Fitness shares a healthy addiction to that feeling. If you’re looking for a new way to work out, martial arts training is a great option – combining fitness, skill, challenge and a real sense of achievement.
Our Chief Instructor, Kelly (KB), writes a different lesson plan every week to feed our members’ addiction. KB Kickboxing, KB Self Defence and KB Kung Fu classes are never predictable or repetitive, so there is always something new to learn, practise and master.
When our members are asked why they are so dedicated to martial arts training, they often find that the answer isn’t so easily conveyed to people who haven’t experienced it themselves. Loved ones can be supportive, but only training partners who have also been bitten by the bug truly ‘get’ why martial artists become so passionate about training.
Kelly Fiestas, a KB Black Belt, confirms this:
“Most people think it’s the same as going to a gym. Friends have even invited me to go to their gyms. I have tried it, but it was never a satisfying experience. There’s no sense of achievement and progress when training at a gym. I know some people train for fitness, but although that is a great benefit of training, it was never one of my reasons. There’s nothing like the experience of setting a goal and working hard to achieve it, and the exhilaration when you do achieve it. That kind of feeling is amazing. I love that I can share all that with my training peers and that we celebrate each other’s achievements.”
And that is what makes martial arts so much more than just a workout.
When you are truly hooked, martial arts training can become a way of life because it can change so many aspects of your life for the better. It offers much more than punches and kicks. It can build confidence and self-esteem, develop discipline and focus, improve fitness and give you a genuine sense of achievement.
Training in a gym can certainly get you fit, but martial arts training gives you something else too: goals to work towards, skills to develop, challenges to overcome and achievements to celebrate. At KB Fitness in London, our welcoming community means you get to experience all of that alongside people who understand exactly why you keep coming back.
By training in the martial arts, you can make changes that last a lifetime.
