Artificial Intelligence is becoming part of everyday life. From writing essays and creating artwork to helping people plan workouts, AI is changing the way many tasks are done. But can AI help you learn martial arts?
According to KB Fitness Chief Instructor Kelly (KB), the answer is both yes and no.
“AI can analyse fight footage, track your progress, or remind you of combinations you have been practising. It can even give you tips on nutrition or recovery,” she explains.
However, when it comes to the experience of training in person, there are limits to what technology can achieve.
“But when it comes to the real work, feeling the rhythm of pads under your gloves, moving your feet in time with a partner, or building the confidence that comes from sparring, there is no replacement for showing up to the dojo.”
At KB Fitness, our martial arts classes focus on more than simply learning techniques. Martial arts training is about developing confidence, discipline, resilience and focus through regular practice and personal effort.
As Kelly (KB) puts it, “Martial arts is about more than information, it’s about transformation.”
She also points out that while technology continues to advance, some aspects of training remain uniquely human.
“What AI does remind us though, is the value of being human. Martial arts training is not just about throwing kicks and punches, it is about resilience, focus, respect and learning to challenge yourself in ways that a computer never could.”
For Kelly (KB), the training hall remains one of the few places where technology takes a back seat and personal effort becomes the priority.
“So, while AI may be powerful, the dojo remains one of the few places where the human element always wins. Long may that continue.”
