Many people come to KB Fitness just thinking they want to get fitter, but what they discover goes far beyond exercise. Martial arts training at KB is unlike any regular workout. It teaches students to move their bodies in ways running on a treadmill simply can’t match, while building confidence, resilience, and self-awareness.

“Martial arts isn’t just about punching and kicking,” says Kelly KB, the school’s founder. “It’s about discovering what you’re capable of, learning to face challenges, and gaining confidence you didn’t know you had.”

Adults from all walks of life join KB. Some were never athletic, didn’t enjoy sports as kids, or simply wanted a new challenge. Others come to overcome trauma, manage anger, escape stress, or even confront personal fears. And some – inspired by childhood heroes like Bruce Lee or Buffy the Vampire Slayer – find a way to fight and win against their own inner demons.

For Alice, who’s been a KB member for 6 years, says: “KB has changed my life. I need to train every week because it makes me happy, gives me positivity, and helps me deal with stress. It’s the best part of my day.”

Shreya, who joined KB after seeing an Instagram ad, echoes this sentiment. “I had no idea what I could achieve when I first started, but every week I turn up, I feel proud of myself. Getting my first belt was a highlight, especially during a challenging time in my life. KB has become my place of solace and constant inspiration.”

No matter their background or how they came to find KB, our students stay for the special community that Kelly has built. “KB Fitness has quickly become my second family. I know I can turn up as I am, and be accepted – and celebrated. That kindness and welcoming atmosphere is sorely needed in today’s world,” says John, a newer KB student.

While setting goals and seeing progress is definitely a big part of the draw of martial arts training, KB students are encouraged to embrace the moment and enjoy training right now – whatever their level. “We never know how long we’ll be able to train,” Kelly explains. “Health, age, life circumstances – they all change. That’s why I tell my students to give it their all now, and make the most of every opportunity to train and grow.”

This “give it your all” mentality extends beyond martial arts. Students carry it into their daily lives, facing challenges with the same focus and resilience they develop in the dojo. For those open to change, martial arts training at KB is more than a hobby – it’s transformative.

Whether the journey is short or long, the experience of training at KB stays with people, in ways they carry with them long after training ends.
