KB’s Corporate Self Defence classes have gone global. Check out this video that shows Specialist Freight Networks’ team building self-defence class at their business conference in Croatia.
The aim of corporate self defence classes to break the ice in a relaxed way, whilst learning some practical self-defence. You’ll see here that after just a few minutes, the participants are having great fun and sharing lots of laughter. Gone are any awkward greetings or timid conversations.
KB’s Chief Instructor Kelly Bunyan and KB’s Senior Instructor Dee Terret have been teaching self-defence in the UK for over 30 years. They’ve found that
self-defence classes can be a team building activity with a positive difference. As well as helping build camaraderie and team spirit, the well-planned activities incorporate self-defence techniques, which are valuable no matter where you are in the world.
“At every SFN meeting, our members learn some simple but effective martial arts moves at our corporate self defence session. We’ve found that it’s a fantastic team building event, with delegates from all over the world coming together to have fun. Everyone can benefit from learning some self-defence, and at business conferences it’s imperative that all participants are made to feel comfortable. What better way to accomplish both? A Corporate self-defence team building event is a brilliant idea!” said Jess, Specialist Freight Networks’ Operations Manager.
As you can see from the video, the session is fun, with teams competing for points, but the subject of self-defence is treated with the necessary seriousness: KB Fitness’ Chief Instructor and founder of SFN, Kelly KB, and KB’s Senior Instructor Dee Terret, demonstrate and explain each technique.
Self-defence and employee well-being go hand in hand. By booking a self defence team building session, employers show their teams that they care about them, and about helping them to feel safer and more aware.
“I recently organised a workshop for my colleagues and it was absolutely fantastic! Dee is a brilliant trainer – she made everyone feel at ease to ask questions and try out moves. We felt so empowered by the end of the session,” said Gabrielle Louden, from BP.
Learning self-defence can be such an important boost to physical and mental health. Increased confidence and self-belief are just two of the benefits that a workplace self-defence training can have. When taught skills to help overcome fear, gain confidence and self-belief, and protect yourself, as Kelly and Dee say in the video, “Everyone’s a winner”.
