This week, KB members were reunited with Bob!
Bob is a valued member of our school. He does not pay us a visit very often, but he certainly leaves a lasting impression when he does make an appearance.
The newer members may have been confused by the mention of our beloved Bob in the school’s WhatsApp group, when Kelly, KB Chief Instructor, hinted at the week’s lesson plan, but any confusion soon dissipated at Monday’s class.
‘Bobbing’ is a great way to work the legs. A bob is essentially a squat, an evasive tactic to assist the martial artist to get underneath a technique.
When combined with different techniques, different parts of the body are worked with each drill. At one point, during the school’s advanced classes, the higher grades were doing ‘bob, jump front kicks!’ Super advanced, a super fun workout for the legs and core.
There is always a lot of good-natured banter in the KB WhatsApp group before and after class, particularly on a week when Bob makes a comeback to classes. It is always fun to check out the KB WhatsApp group before classes as the members eagerly anticipate training together, as well as after each class where there is much elated discussion as to how high everybody is feeling.
Marianne, who has been training in every class in preparation for her upcoming Black Belt grading wrote the morning after class, prior to the week’s final live classes: ‘Sweet! A whole 8 hours to re-learn how to walk. Looking forward to seeing you later!’
Following her lead, other members asked for advice on tactics to stretch their muscles after the powerful / intense leg workout. There was an instant influx of support and suggestions, which was much appreciated by newer members and higher grades alike.
It shows not only the members’ grit and determination to progress and improve, but the heart-warming camaraderie that has become the norm amongst our members. There is a profound sense of family in our school. The #KBFamily is more than just about punching and kicking, instead, all members genuinely care for each other’s well-being, regularly exchanging tips – for example suggesting healthier options of food and so on.
It makes for an incredibly special environment indeed. Come and be a part of our positive, caring community.
